Transcription Styles

We transcribe your recordings to the style (protocol) you set. There are essentially three types of transcription styles that most clients want.

Strict Verbatim Transcription

Every sound is captured and recorded. This includes personal comments, all the ah's, um's, false starts, repetitions, speech patterns ("like", "you know"), and remarks ("right", "yeah") made by the interviewer or interviewee. Strict Verbatim Transcription is mostly used for interviews or depositions.

Smooth/Intelligent Verbatim Transcription

According to you specific instructions, certain sounds are not recorded. Most clients wish to eliminate the uh's, ah's, repetitions and speech patterns, but do want to see everything else. It is up to you how much or how little you wish to omit. Your specific requests are strictly adhered to. Smooth/Intelligent Verbatim Transcription is mostly used for business meetings, conferences, presentations and question and answer sessions.

 Edited Content Transcription

This is an expansion of the Smooth/Intelligent Verbatim style. Grammar and slang are corrected, and personal and interrupting comments are left out. Edited Content Transcription is mostly used when the main ideas of the recording is desired; perhaps for the purpose of summarizing a discussion.

• Pricing is based on the following factors.

• Quality of the audio.
• Number of speakers.
• The type of project. Is it for research, academic, business, etc.?
• Turn-around time. How soon do you need it?
• Type of transcription. Do you need complete verbatim, intelligent verbatim, content, etc.?
